Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres has issued the activity report for the department for Tuesday, 1/17/2017.
-Hwy 385 at FM 1294: Agency Assist. Deputies received a report of a motorist striking a deer on the highway and assisted.
-FM 1294 at North Alamo Rd: Fire. Deputies were dispatched to the area to attempt to locate a possible fire. The area was searched and no fire was found.
-700 blk Arnett, Ropesville: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint of a suspicious juvenile in the area. Both parties were contacted and no offense was reported. A close patrol was requested for the residence.
-Hockley County LEC: Complaint by Phone: A caller inquired about reporting a vehicle stolen from a property, possibly in Hockley County. A deputy contacted the caller and after the conversation advised the property was not in Hockley County. The caller was referred to the appropriate agency to complete the report.
-1800 blk Hwy 385: Agency Assist. Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle crash and assisted DPS and Levelland Fire Department.
-Blackgold Rd and Grubstake Rd: Welfare Check. Deputies were dispatched to the area and nothing was located.
-200 blk 9th St, Anton: Agency Assist. Deputies assisted Anton Police and CPS at a residence. A male subject was arrested for outstanding warrants and transported to the jail.
-700 blk Robinson Rd, Smyer: Animal Complaint. Deputies contacted a resident about an animal issue. Remedies were explained to the caller.
-1400 blk 2nd Street, Levelland: Agency Assist. Deputies assisted Levelland PD with suspicious activity reported in the area.
Deputies completed close patrols/vacation watches, followed up on investigations, served civil process, and conducted patrols in areas of the county.
He also reported there are 51 inmates in the Hockley County Jail as of January 18 with 7 to be processed and 32 inmates are currently being housed out of county.
