Major Accident in Levelland Injures Three People Tuesday


Emergency crews in Levelland responded to a three car traffic accident on Tuesday, December 6 at approximately 8pm at the intersection of Ellis and Hwy 385 in Levelland.

Reports from the Levelland Police Department indicated Joseph Gillespie, 17 of Levelland was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Spark and was west bound on East Ellis and was stopped at the intersection of 385 and Ellis.  He told police he failed to yield right of way to a Ford pickup that was northbound on Hwy 385.  When the two vehicles collided, the 2010 Ford Pick-up driven by Michaela Graf of Levelland side swiped a third vehicle, a 2015 Nissan Rogue which was stopped in the turning lane of the intersection.

Graf was transported by Levelland EMS to Covenant Hospital in Levelland for moderate injuries.  The driver and passenger of the Nissan, Cordell Kuhlers and Diana Kuhlers were both transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries.  Gillespie was not injured.

Levelland Police cited Gillespie for Failure to Yield Right of Way.
