The construction for the South Plains College Lubbock Center is well under way. Construction manager for the project is McCutchin Construction of Levelland.
Members of the SPC Lubbock Center Advisory Council received a tour of the facility now under construction on Wednesday, November 2. It was reported that in the past 2 months since construction began they have completed all interior demolition, plumbing has been roughed in, Interior structural walls have been installed, Wall frames have been erected for all of the building, front glass panels on the building have been removed and new wall frames erected, Conduit for electrical, technology and security systems have been installed and replacement and repair to roofing has been initiated in order to “dry in” the building as quick as possible.
In the next 2 months they plan to complete the roof replacement/repair, electrical systems will be installed, installation of door frames and trim work will begin, preparation for installation of ceiling systems along with installation of Heating and Air systems. The front entrance of the building will be framed in and exterior walls erected.
Jim McCutchin with McCutchin Construction said that renovations are ahead of schedule and should continue on pace as contractors will be able to work inside for the most of the project. The target completion date is August of 2017 however, McCutchin said he estimates completion to be in July of 2017.
