Area Bands Perform Well at Regional, Some Prepare for Area This Weekend

letstalkThe Regional Marching Competition was recently held at Lowrey Field in Lubbock.  This year Class 4A and 6A bands have the opportunity to move on to Area competition, for a chance to march in the State Marching competition in November.

In Class 4A, Brownfield, Denver City and Seminole all received a Division I rating and will advance to the Area Marching contest in Lubbock on Saturday, October 29.  Estacado, Lamesa and Levelland all received Division II ratings.

In Class 6A, Frenship High School received a sweepstakes rating with all ones and will march Saturday in Odessa in the Area round.

Other bands performing in the exhibition class of the Regional competition and not able to advance to the Area round includes:

Class 5A:  Monterey, Plainview, Lubbock Coronado, Lubbock High and Lubbock Cooper all receiving a Division I

Class 1A:  Ropes, Springlake-Earth, Whiteface and Jayton all receiving a Division I.  O’Donnell, Anton and Spur each received a Division II.

Class 2A:  Sundown, Smyer, Sudan, Tahoka, Seagraves, Ropes, Ralls, Olton, New Deal, Lockney, Hale Center, Floydada, Farwell, Crosbyton and Abernathy all receiving a Division I as well.

The Area Marching competition for Class 4A will be held in Lubbock at Lowrey Field on Saturday, October 29.  Denver City performs at 1pm, followed by Seminole at 1:15pm and Brownfield at 2:45pm.  The top 7 bands will advance to the Finals that evening beginning at 6:45pm.
