Wolfforth Police Investigate Vehicle Burglaries

Wolfforth_logo_FinalColorWolfforth Police Chief Rick Scott announced on the department’s facebook page that several vehicles were broken into late Monday night and early Tuesday in the Preston Estates neighborhood.

Chief Scott said that police found an unoccupied vehicle Tuesday afternoon that detectives believed was involved in the burglaries.  They obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and discovered several items which had been stolen including several stolen handguns.  Some of the items recovered from the vehicle were items stolen out of Lubbock and Lubbock County.  Wolfforth Police are working with Lubbock Police and Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office to identify and arrest suspects in the case.

Chief Scott advises that if your vehicle has been burglarized to contact your local authorities.

You are also reminded to never leave valuables in your vehicle especially handguns and always remember to lock your vehicles.  Chief Scott said that most of the vehicles burglarized were unlocked at the time.  He said “While locking your vehicle will not always prevent a burglary it does reduce the chances of being burglarized.”
