Police Make Arrest in Knifing Incident on SPC Campus

letstalkPolice announced late Friday that an arrest was made in the knifing incident which occurred on the SPC Levelland campus Thursday morning.

Police arrested Michael Ray Resendez, 23 of Levelland on charges of aggrevated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.  Police reportedly responded to a call of an assault which occurred on the SPC campus around 5:30am Thursday morning.  SPC Police who investigated the case said the assault stemmed from a disagreement which occurred on a city street on the campus in a vehicle.  Resendez reportedly stabbed the victim, a 17 year old who was also in the vehicle.  A 3rd party walked with the victim to Covenant Hospital Levelland.  The victim was then transferred to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock in Critical Condition.  He was listed in stable condition Saturday afternoon.

Resendez was arrested at a Levelland residence after the incident.  Police say they found the knife used in the attack in the residence.  Resendez remains in the Hockley County Jail with a $40,000 bond for the assault charge and a $5,000 bond for the tampering charge.
