The Levelland Fire Department has accepted a pumper truck donated to the city by Occidental Petroleum Corporation. The fire truck was housed and served the former navy base in Corpus Christi and was part of Occidental’s purchase of the property.
Fire Chief Bill Durham said “The addition of this elevated foam pumper truck will help the department and will be a great benefit to this community.” He said the truck will hold 500 gallons of water and 500 gallons of foam and while connected to a water source has the capability of pumping 1,250 gallons per minute.
The Levelland Fire Department has 25 volunteer fire fighters and 8 paid positions. They are members of the State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas and is also the host department for South Plains Regional Rescue, which is a Type 4 structural collapse team.
