SPC Board of Regents Draws Contested Election

The deadline for filing for the area school and city elections as well as the South Plains College Board of Regents was Friday.

The Levelland City Council and Levelland ISD Board of Trustees both have uncontested races and will likely cancel their elections.  South Plains College Board of Regents had 2 seats on the ballot.  Mike Box, the incumbent will face challenger, Richard Ellis.  The second seat will be unopposed with incumbent, Ronny Alexander.

Levelland City Council District A–The incumbent, Manuel Mendez chose not to run for another term.  Jim Myatt filed for the District A seat.  The second seat, District C currently held by Billy Youngblood, who drew no opposition.

Levelland ISD Board of Trustee seats, District 1, Paul Ochoa; District 3, Rusty Gibson; and District 5, Ronnie Watkins all refiled for another term with no opponents.
