The Levelland Economic Development Corporation held their regular monthly meeting Thursday.
The board approved an update to the Levelland EDC bylaws. The changes will now go to the Levelland City Council for final approval.
The board also heard the monthly financial report. It was noted that sales tax collections for the month of February are down approximately 10% from this time last year, which was also noted was a record month for sales tax collections. This time period would cover December sales for monthly filers and annual sales tax payments from annual filers. It was also pointed out that Penny Newman Grain has paid $10,000 for their first 200 cars which went through the rail park in November, December and January. This is well within their agreement. Rail traffic remains steady for Pipeline Plastics and was down slightly for Titan Transloading.
The board also met in executive session to discuss 2 pending projects. The board reconvened in open session and took action to approve the sale of a small piece of land in the Industrial Rail Park to Jay Norton with Norton Drilling and approved a short term lease of additional land behind the current Norton property to Norton for equipment storage.
