Xcel Energy has all available staff working to restore power across the Texas and New Mexico Service Area. This update was provided this afternoon. (Sunday, December 27)
As of about 2 p.m. we had about 14,200 customers without power across our Texas-New Mexico service area. Close to 11,745 were in our Clovis, N.M., district, where treacherous conditions have slowed our movements. Since the beginning of the storm on Saturday, we’ve had almost 30,000 customers affected by service interruptions at one time or another.
All our available personnel are involved in restoration efforts. We don’t anticipate that weather conditions will improve until Monday, so more outages are possible. Customers are cautioned to stay away from downed power lines and report outages or damage to the system at xcelenergy.com/outages or by calling 1-800-895-1999. We also encourage our customers to check on their neighbors to make sure everyone is staying warm and safe.
