Hockley County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Assault of Postal Employee

The Hockley County Sheriff’s office is currently working a joint investigation with the Postal Inspector’s Office out of Lubbock following the assault of postal employee Wednesday morning in Ropes.

According to reports from the Sheriff’s Office a postal employee was driving a postal truck through Ropes when 2 juvenile suspects threw a metal object which entered the vehicle through the windshield and hit the driver on the right side of the head.  According to investigators, it appears that the object was thrown in the path of the driver.  The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to contact their office at 894-3126.

The Sheriff’s office has also taken a second call indicating a similar instance Tuesday evening in Ropesville.

The US Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible.  You are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 894-3126 and speak with Captain Nolan Seaton or Lt. Robert Crank.
