All Brownfield Students Safe After A Fire Aboard a BISD Bus

Brownfield ISD has confirmed that all students are safe this morning after a fire aboard a Brownfield ISD Activity Bus.

Spanish III Students were reportedly on their way to a competition at Tech when the bus driver, Hector Limon, Sr. heard a noise and pulled over and stopped the bus outside of Wolfforth.  The driver inspected the exterior of the bus and immediately ordered everyone to evacuate the bus immediately.  A Wolfforth Police Officer was behind the bus and saw it pull over and was on the scene almost immediately and assisted in evacuating the bus in an orderly manner.  The bus driver used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the blaze.

Brownfield ISD Superintendent Tanya Monroe said everyone is safe and their was no damage to the interior components of the bus.  She said that the students was loaded on another Brownfield ISD bus and continued on to their competition in Lubbock.
