Annual Country Showdown Held Tuesday in Levelland

Country ShowdownThe Annual Country Showdown hosted by the Levelland Area Endowment and KLVT Radio was held in Levelland on Tuesday night at the Brasch Mitchell Building.

The competition held locally was a local competition and awarded a winner with a $500 Cash Prize and the opportunity to move on to the state competition in Dallas on Friday.

The winner in the local competition Tuesday night was the Duo of Monique ford and Corbin (Dallas) Burgett Duo.  Monique was born in Denver Colorado and moved to Hobbs, NM at the age of 12.  She is currently attending South Plains college and majors in Commercial Music.  After College she plans to have a successful band and play music for a living.  Corbin (Dallas) Burgett is from Shallowater and grew up playing guitar.  He also currently attends South Plains College and hopes to become a successful guitarist and vocalist in the future.  Monique and Corbin met at SPC and quickly became friends.  The variety of music they play, makes this duo one of a kind.

There were a total of 9 contestants in the local competition.
