Manhunt Underway Across the State for Fugitive–3 DPS Officers Injured

Law Enforcement Authorities across the State of Texas are searching for a fugitive who escaped from authorities during a traffic stop in the panhandle.

Reportedly, Texas Department of Safety Troopers stopped a vehicle in Carson County in the Texas Panhandle and then fled the scene and in the process injured 3 DPS officers.  A trooper stopped a Cadillac driven by Victor Apodaca, 25 of Clovis, NM for a traffic violation.  A confrontation broke out and Apodaca who was outside of the vehicle got back in the vehicle and tried to drive away.  A trooper on the passenger side of the vehicle tried to disengage the vehicle and was hurt in the process.  Two other troopers were also injured in the altercation and were all taken to the hospital by ambulance.

State troopers say they are unsure where the suspect may be, and they have launched a state wide search involving the Texas DPS, Texas Rangers, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and several local law enforcement agencies are searching for the suspect.  Officers say that the suspect left the vehicle in Armstrong county in the Texas Panhandle.

The suspect is described as 25 years of age standing approximately 5’8″ tall and weighing approximately 142 lbs.  The felon is believed to be in possession of a firearm and is considered armed and dangerous.  If you should encounter the suspect, do not approach, call 911.
