The City of Levelland and Economic Development Board President Elgin Conner are pleased to announce the selection of John W. Clary as the new Executive Director of Levelland Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Clary will begin his new role with the EDC on September 14.
With the assistance of Strategic Government Resources (SGR), an executive search and training firm out of Keller, Texas, a nationwide search was conducted to find the most qualified candidate to fill the Executive Director role. Clary comes to the City of Levelland from Lindale, Texas where he served as President of the Lindale EDC for the past eight years. With a vast 18 years of experience in Economic Development, Clary has won numerous awards for his contributions to development programs, including: the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) CEDA Award for the development of Lindale Industrial Park and FedEx Ground distribution center; the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Gold Award for the Lindale EDC website; and while serving as Executive Director of the Harlingen Downtown Improvement District, Clary’s team won an award for the Best Downtown Management District in Texas by the Texas Downtown Association.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work with the Levelland Economic Development Corporation. During the interview process, I was impressed by the “can do” attitude in Levelland’s leadership and look forward to joining the team to help grow the community.” said Clary.

Clary holds a Master’s degree in the Public Administration field, with a concentration on Urban Planning, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas State University. He is an active member several professional organizations, including: TEDC, International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors (NTCAR).
