Large Number of Counterfeit Checks Passed in Muleshoe

According to Muleshoe Police Lt. Benny Parker, United Supermarkets, Muleshoe State Bank and First Bank of Bovina were hit by a large group of individuals bearing counterfeit payroll checks.

According to Parker, approximately 130 counterfeit checks have been passed to date for a total of more that $130,000.  A large number of the counterfeit checks were reported to be on an Evergreen Farms of Muleshoe Business account.

Police Chief Roy Rice with the Muleshoe Police Department said it was unfortunate that a check cashing service provided by many local merchants and banks will likely have to change because of the actions of a few corrupt individuals.
