The Bill Clayton Detention Center in Littlefield which has been vacant since 2009 is one step closer to becoming a facility to house sex offenders.
We received word late Friday afternoon that the Texas Civil Commitment Office has awarded a bid to Correct Care Solutions which plans to open a sex offender treatment program in the Lamb County facility.
According to Littlefield Mayor Eric Turpen, the city will finalize a lease agreement with the company early next week. Patients will be housed in the now vacant facility. The facility is designed to house sex offenders who have completed prison terms, but aren’t deemed eligible for full, unsupervised release. the atmosphere is more relaxed than a prison, with a focus on rehabilitation. Patients will never be able to leave the facility without supervision.
