A trial scheduled to start this week was canceled after the defendent failed to show up.
District Judge Pat Phelan dismissed the jury pool and called a bond forfeiture. He took further action and ordered that the defendent Alexander Olvera be immediately by deputies once he is located.
Olvera who is originally from Lamesa was scheduled to go to trial for possession of a controlled substance said Assistant District Attorney Nicole Griffin. Griffin said, “He has added to his troubles.” Attorneys were in the process of picking a jury before Phelan called it off.
