Levelland Animal Control Officer Injured While On Duty

A Levelland Police Department Animal Control Officer was attacked by a dog while on duty last Friday afternoon.

Reports indicate that the officer was sent to a home on 12th street, the officer reportedly found a dog loose and returned the dog to the owner, the officer even helped the owner fix the fence and they put the dog back behind the fence.  Without warning the dog then attacked the officer.

The officer was hospitalized at Covenant Hospital in Levelland for treatment and is reportedly doing well as of Monday evening according to police department officials.

The department reminds everyone to make sure their fences are in good repair so that their dogs cannot get out and to make sure that all shots are current for your dog.  It is much cheaper to pay for the shots then to pay for the damages the dog causes if they don’t have the shots.
