Levelland ISD made the hiring official today. You will recall on May 5 the Levelland ISD Board of Trustees made the hiring official.
Jeff Northern, currently the Assistant Superintendent for Snyder ISD will be the Superintendent for Levelland ISD and will begin his duties on July 1. F.E. Shaheen, board president said the district entered into a 3 year contract with Northern at an annual salary of $132,000 per year plus a monthly fuel allowance, district provided cell phone, 15 days vacation and $3000 annually deposited into an annuity of the Superintendents choice.
In a brief interview following the hiring Northern told KLVT news that he looks forward to coming in and working with the administrative team, staff and teachers of Levelland ISD. This will be his second time with Levelland ISD, he previously was with the district for 15 years where he served as a coach and teacher for 11 years and was Assistant Principal for the high school for 3 years from 2001-2004. He is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Snyder ISD where he has been over all Human Resources matters, safety and security for the entire district and handled complaints and grievances for the district.
When asked what his immediate plans for Levelland ISD were he said he plans to have conversations with key people with the district and will work to create a needs assessment and devise a long term plan. He complimented the district on their recent bond project and renovations that have occurred and ones that are still to come as well as the strong test scores from the district, noting that LISD is strong academically.
