Two Ropesville Council Members Resign Amid Struggles in City Government

According to information received from the City of Ropesville late Friday afternoon, 2 Council Members resigned Friday. Council members Ernest Montes and Carmen Portillo submitted their resignations to the Mayor’s office according to a news release. The release further stated, The Mayor’s office is working on finding qualified persons to appoint to the vacancies as soon as practical.

The statement also stated the city is considering the current use of resources within each city department. No options, including the possibility of limiting services currently provided by the city or disontinuation of services has been ruled out.

The statement, further states the issues facing the city did not appear overnight and there is no “quick fix”. The city is moving forward to finding a remedy for all situations. These issues are not the fault of any single person and residents of Ropesville are being asked to work together in a civil manner for a solution. The statement was issued Friday afternoon by City Administration.
