Anton Opens New Lift Station


The City of anton marked the recent opening of the new lift station with a ribbon cutting.

The project had been in the planning stages for nearly four years and was officially opened with a ribbon cutting.

The city council celebrated the opening of a new wastewater lift station near the southeast side of the community. It was funded through a $275,000 community Development Block Grant through the State of Texas and the City of Anton matched with a 10 percent contribution. City Manager Mike Sea credited his predeccessor with getting the ball rolling on the project. The paperword was started in May 2011 and the city received the grant in October 2013, Construction began later in 2013.

Construction was completed by Harold L Construction out of Abernathy. The community had a pressing need for the new facility, the old system was constructed in 194901950 and was rebuilt in 1977, however the city is no logner able to obtain parts for the station.
