Rodney Carr Sworn in as JP Precinct 4 Monday

Hockley County Commissioners Court met today in a regular meeting.

After receiving 3 applications for the position of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, commissioners conducted interviewed each candidate. Following a brief executive session, Commissioners appointed Rodney Carr to serve as JP for Precinct 4 until the next Primary election in March 2016. The elected JP would take office in January 2017. Carr has indicated he has every intention of running in the next election. He is a former Lubbock Police Department officer and served in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller at the former Reese Air Force Base. He is a long time member of the Anton Community and has farmed in Anton for many years. He was sworn in immediately following the appointment by County Judge Larry Sprowls.

Commissioners also discussed expansion of the Red Raider Wind Project which is set to be constructed in North Eastern Hockley County. It is expected that the project will likely double in size and all of the expansion will be inside Hockley County. No official action was taken on the project.

Commissioners also approved the Resale of Property in Anton and approved the monthly financial report.
