Levelland Police Officers are investigating a disturbance that occurred on West Avenue near the Stripes Convenience Store Sunday. A gun was found in the alley behind the store and is being considered as evidence.
According to reports from the Levelland Police Department, officers were called to the Stripes at approximately 4:15pm yesterday afternoon in reference to a male subject at a nearby residence walking toward the Stripes with a firearm prior to the call coming in to the police department. Two officers responded, when they arrived they met with the store employee who stated he was outside the store and observed a male subject park in the southeast portion of the parking lot and the male subject was yelling at a second male subject identified in the report as Angel. The report indicates the employee observed “Angel” run toward the store parking lot near where the other male subject was parked, he then observed “Angel” brandishing a handgun he pulled from his shorts. Officers reportedly watched store surveillance video which showed a Chevrolet pickup with large chrome wheels park in the parking lot. A passenger exited the pickup and reportedly got into a Dodge Charger which was observed in the video. Both vehicles reportedly left the store before officers arrived. Officers attempted to locate the vehicles in the area but were unable to locate them.
The report continues that approximately 1 hour later officers were dispatched again to the Stripes in reference to a fight in progress. The person making the report indicated a firearm was brandished and several individuals were hitting each other. Three officers responded. One officer met with a male subject in the Stripes parking lot that stated that a male subject had pulled a handgun on his son. Approximately 6 other male subjects were across the street when officers arrived. Following interviews with all involved, officers put in the report that no one wished to file charges at the time. Officers also noted that the altercation apparently took place in the alley behind the Stripes on West Ave. It was also noted in the report that a handgun was found in the alley behind the store and was taken as evidence.
