Levelland Councilmember Earns Rare State Distinction

Levelland City Councilman for Disctrict C, Billy Youngblood has been recognized as a Leadership Fellow by the Texas Municipal League.

He received the honor at a recent meeting at the Texas Municipal Center in Austin.

He was one of 60 people who completed a three course, 6 day program over three months at the TML Leadership Academy. The academy’s faculty counseled participants on how to critique their own decisions and actions, and how to develop competencies to excel in their leadership roles according to a news release.

Participants explored the principles and characteristics of ethical leadership; learned to build trust and discovered ways to improve team building and communication skills to lead people through change; and practiced negotiations for strategic influence.

They also discussed local issues in the leadership context, with the goal of applying learning to their public service roles and to benefit their cities and residents.
