The City of Littlefield has agreed to enter a teaming agreement with Correct Care LLC to possibly house violent sexual offenders at the Bill Clayton Detention Center.
Littlefield City Manager Mike Arismendez said the agreement means the City will be working with correct Care in hopes of finally getting the prison filled. He said there is a requirement in the agreement that for 240 days the prison must be available to Correct Care to place the offenders. During that time period Correct Care will pay the city $5000 for the first 30 days and on day 31 to day 61 if an agreement still is not complete with the State of Texas and Correct Care then Correct Care will pay $15,000 to the city. From day 61 to day 150, if no agreement is reached they will pay $25,000 and from day 151 to day 240 they will pay $45,000. The city will be paid a total of $90,000 if an agreement is not reached in the 240 days and that amount is non refundable.
Correct Care LLC has toured the BCDC and liked the facility because they would have the ability to perform the services needed for the violent sexual offenders. Correct Care has a facility in Florida and is looking to bring the concept to Texas. Correct Care likes the idea of being able to allow for a secure facility to house all the violent sexual offenders who have been civilly committed.
