United Blood Services Media Relations Representative, Les Long told KLVT news Monday that United Blood Services in Lubbock is at a “Less than Adequate Level” of blood to fill all of the stock orders for local hospitals.
He explained there are no hospitals that are not able to get blood for emergency situations and NO surgeries are being delayed, however, the blood service is experiencing a shortage of O- blood which can be used by anyone. They also may not have a full stock on all the shelves of local hospitals but they are NOT out of blood by any means.
