Levelland Doctor to Close Practice

Longtime Levelland Physician Dr. Charles Hughes has announced he will close his practice with the Levelland and Sundown Family Medicine clinics effective Friday, May 16.

He has practiced medicine here for 23 years. He raised his family in Levelland and 3 of his 4 daughters remain in the area, all are working in the medical field. He lost his wife, Kathy to a terminal illness in October 2010.

He admits to having regrets about leaving the local clinics but plans to remain active in medicine, probably in emergency rooms in the area. He noted the biggest regret about closing his local practice is leaving his great staff.

He plans to remain in this area to be near his daughters. He does not rule out resuming a medical practice in a small community near Levelland.

He will continue to see patients through May 16. Medical Records will be maintained by Levelland Family Medicine and can be transferred to another physician or clinic in the future.

Dr. Hughes says, “I deeply regret my departure and gratefully thank each and every patient and May the Good Lord Bless All of Us.”
