The South Plains College Board of Regents met last night and approved bids for expansion of the Plainview campus.
Construction is expected to start in coming weeks of the new Plainview Technology Center to be built on the Plainview Campus.
Regents approved 1.2 Million Dollars for construction of the center. Accounting for 1/2 of that figure will be Plumbing and Electrical.
Construction Manager Jim McCutchin told regents that the project is a little higher than anticipated, however, it is believed that the cause is some federal requirements on the project due to grant requirements as the school will be using a grant to pay for a portion of this project. Engineers worked for 2 weeks after bids were opened to bring the price down closer to the budgeted amount.
