SPC Physical Therapy Assistants, nursing students to host fall prevention clinic, fund raiser

LEVELLAND –The Physical Therapy Assistants Program and the Licensed Vocational Nursing programs at South Plains College will host a Fall Prevention Clinic for the surrounding communities from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 in the Allied Health Building.

According to Jackie Underwood, SPC PTA Program Director, “We plan to have students check vital signs, complete a basic medication screening, complete a balance assessment for fall risk, safety education and an exercise session. We would like to get the information out early and often so we can have a good turnout for the students. This is a community service event sponsored by the PTASA.”

The PTA Program will conduct a massage fundraiser from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 10 through Oct. 17 in the Mall Area of the Student Center. The suggested donation is $10 for 10 minutes or $15 for 15 minutes. Proceeds from the event will be used to bringing PTA Licensure Exam Prep Course to SPC.

To schedule an appointment, please contact Joanna Moore, administrative assistant to the Director of Health Occupations, at (806) 716 -2391.
