Levelland City Council Completes 1st Look at 2013-2014 Budget

The Levelland City Council met last night in its 3rd Budget Worksession.

The council has now completely looked at the entire budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. The proposed tax rate is 72.8 cents per $100 property value. That is an estimated .9% increase from the current tax rate and will amount to roughly $2 per year on a $100,000 home.

The city council will give final approval for the budget at their first meeting in September.

The budget includes a roughly 5% increase in sanitation/garbage rates, which will help pay for the operation of the new landfill which will ultimately help bring costs down as the garbage contractors will be able to take atleast part of the garbage collected in Levelland to our landfill and not to an out of county landfill.

KLVT news will be posting a detailed story on the City Budget in the next several days.
