Former Levelland Police Officer Indicted by a Grand Jury

A former sergeant with the Levelland Police Department was indicted on Thursday by a Hockley County Grand Jury.

Former Sgt. Lance A. Keller, 33 of Levelland was indicted for theft of $1500 or more.

In February 2013 he was placed on administrative leave without pay, he was terminated from the city in March of 2013.

According to a statement issued by Police Chief, Toney Cowan, the facts and circumstances surrounding Officer Keller were such that an investigation was conducted by the Levelland Police Department. The City administration determined that the results should be turned over to the office of the District Attorney to afford them the opportunity to determine whether or not any action through that office was appropriate. The department will cooperate fully in the DA’s investigation. The city would make no further statement other than to say he is not an employee of the City of Levelland at this time.
