KLVT news has learned that Texas Highway 114 is now open to traffic after it was closed earlier this evening due to wildfire.
Reports indicate that a wildfire broke out approximately 1 mile east of the Hockley County line on 114. Shallowater, Carlisle and Wolfforth fire departments all responded. The fire broke out due to the extreme winds and very low humidity values. The National Weather Service reported humidity values at less than 5% this evening. We received word about 9pm tonight that Hwy 114 has been re-opened and the fire is now under control. Atleast 1 structure was destroyed.
We will continue to follow this story through out the evening and will bring you updates as they become available.
