KLVT news following news that Military Branches are suspending education benefits as part of budget cuts

As you have probably heard the Army and Marine Corps have already suspended the tuition program for soldiers and Marines as the effects of automatic budget cuts begin to take effect. Reports indicate that those currently enrolled can complete coursework, but no new students will be allowed to enroll, according to reports from the Pentagon.

KLVT news now is beginning to get unconfirmed reports that the Air Force will follow suit and will suspend education benefits as well. The Air Force is expected to make a decision this week on the issue. We will continue to follow the issue and bring updates to you as they become available.

KLVT news has learned of a petition available on http://www.whitehouse.gov which would ask the President to issue an executive order re-instating the benefits and not even make them a part of the budget cuts. We are providing a link below to the petition which will go directly to the President.
