Blizzard Warning in effect for South Plains beginning at 9pm tonight

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has placed a portion of the South Plains including Hockley and Cochran Counties under a Blizzard Warning beginning at 9pm tonight and continuing through Monday at 6pm.

The warning includes Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens and King Counties. Snowfall is expected to begin around midnight in the Levelland and Lubbock area according to meteorologists from the Lubbock office of the National Weather Service. 2-4 inches is possible with this storm in our area, locally heavier amounts are possible–wind speeds in excess of 30 mph is expected to cause near white out conditions. Travel is strongly discouraged due to the white out conditions.
