TxDOT Crews to begin work on Hwy 385 Today

Texas Department of Transportation crews from Hockley County will begin work on Hwy 385 today near the intersection of 385 and Ellis.

Gary McLendon, the supervisor for the Levelland office said that crews will be milling 1/4 to 1/2 inches of the pavement off to add texture back to the surface because the pavement surface had become slick and was hazardous when wet.

As a result of the work project, traffic will be down to 1 lane going in one direction this week.  The crews will also be doing research on the pavement.  Work will begin approximately 1/2 mile North of the Hwy 385 and Hwy 114 intersection and continue to just south of the Ellis Rd. intersection where the road widens.  A special crew out of Lubbock will also assist with the project.

Motorist are asked to avoid the area if at all possible and use extreme caution when traveling in the area.
