KLVT news was on the scene just moments after a Sky Alert message went out to all parents this morning from Levelland High School Principal Ray Vasquez. The message stated that a bomb threat was found on a bathroom wall at the high school. Reports early from Levelland School Officials and Levelland Police Department officials that the threat indicated a bomb was in the vicinity of the back gym of the high school.
Levelland Police Department officials and other emergency management officials went through the building and also called in the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad to do a thorough investigation. The bomb squad was on the scene by 9am this morning.
Levelland Interim School Superintendent Kelly Baggett told KLVT news that the decision was made strictly as a precaution, to dismiss classes at the high school campus only for the remainder of the day. Students were held in the field house of the high school awaiting parents to pick them up.
