Judge Orders New Election in Sheriff’s Race

72nd District Judge Ruben Reyes of Lubbock has ordered that the runoff election in the Sheriff’s race from July 31 be considered void.  Following over 4 hours of conference with attorney’s today in the 286th District Court in Hockley County the judge voided that election and ordered a new election for Tuesday, September 18.  Polling locations on the 18th will include all 11 locations that were opened during the original May 29 election.  Polls will be open 7am to 7pm.  Early voting for the election will be from September 10-14 with all polls open from 9am to 5pm and they must be open during the lunch hour according to the court order.  We will post a full list of polling locations later this week.
